Microsoft Teams June 2026: InfoComm Edition Updates
The June 2026 edition of Microsoft Teams coincides with InfoComm 2026, North America's largest professional AV conference, held in Las Vegas. In this context, Microsoft unveiled a new vision of collaboration: one where artificial intelligence acts as a true teammate, present in calls, meetings, and physical work environments.
Ilya Bukshteyn, Corporate Vice President for Teams Calling, Meetings & Devices, structured the InfoComm keynote around three pillars: AI in your calls, AI in your meetings, and AI in your rooms. This article details all features released in General Availability (GA) or Public Preview this month.

Article Scope
All features described are available in General Availability (GA) unless otherwise noted. Features in Public Preview or in the Frontier program are explicitly identified.
Chat and Collaboration: Contextual Search and File Management
Contextual Search with Copilot in Teams
Search in Microsoft Teams is enriched with an intelligence layer via Copilot. Now directly accessible from the search bar — via autocomplete or a dedicated button on the results page — contextual search provides precise answers without leaving the search experience. This significantly reduces time spent manually browsing conversation histories.
Advanced File Discovery in Chats and Channels
File search in active channels becomes much more efficient thanks to comprehensive indexing of all uploaded files, including those added outside of messages. The new available filters are:
- File type (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF…)
- Sender
- Upload date
- Typeahead search in real-time to refine results
To launch search: Ctrl+F on Windows, Cmd+F on macOS, or via the Search in chat button.
Improved PowerPoint and Excel Previews on Mobile
Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel file previews in Teams mobile have been optimized for faster and more reliable loading. This update also introduces support for files protected by Information Rights Management (IRM), improving access to sensitive content on the go.
List View for "See more apps"
The tile display in the "See more apps" section is replaced by a cleaner list view, facilitating navigation and discovery of applications available in your organization.
Navigation Context Preservation in Teams
Teams now automatically restores your workspace when you return to a conversation shortly after leaving it. The selected tab, open sidebar panel, and interface layout are preserved, reducing interruptions and maintaining work continuity.
Live Meeting Indicator for Threaded Channels (Government Clouds)
For Government Cloud (GCC, GCC High, DoD) environments, a new visual indicator signals active meetings in threaded channels. Participants can thus spot and join an ongoing meeting directly from the conversation thread.
Enhanced Organization of Muted Chats and Meeting Chats
Teams now automatically groups muted chats in a dedicated section (enabled by default), and optionally allows grouping meeting chats in a separate section. This organization reduces visual clutter and helps users prioritize their active conversations.
Improved Download Manager
The download manager is now accessible from the Teams title bar or via a keyboard shortcut. It opens without blocking chats or channels, allowing you to track downloads in parallel with collaboration activities.
Quick Image Sharing (Quick Share)
The Quick Share feature allows you to share images from chats and channels in just a few clicks via context menus (hover, right-click, overflow menu). For images stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, existing permissions are preserved. Images pasted directly in the chat are stored separately and do not benefit from permission-based sharing.
Teams Meetings: Anti-Bot Protection and Brand Identity
Intelligent Bot Protection in Meetings
The emergence of AI note-taking bots in professional meetings raises legitimate concerns about privacy and security. Microsoft introduces a new Teams admin policy — Manage external bots and their meeting access — which enables you to:
- Automatically identify suspect participants as bots
- Redirect them to the lobby in a dedicated "Suspected Threats" group
- Require explicit organizer approval before admission
- Display confirmation prompts when admitting participants
A registration program for trusted ISVs is also planned to distinguish legitimate bots from unsolicited intrusions. Learn more about bot protection in Teams.
Custom Brand-Colored Reactions (Branded Reactions)
Organizations can now customize reaction icons in Teams meetings to align with their brand identity. IT administrators upload custom icons (logo, event theme, visual guidelines) directly in the Teams admin center. These reactions are then available to all participants in relevant meetings.
Use Case
Branded reactions are particularly useful for client presentations, corporate events, or large-scale internal communications where visual consistency reinforces credibility.
Teams Phone: Conversational AI and Centralized Management
Teams Phone Agent and Copilot Studio Extensibility [Frontier – Public Preview]
Teams Phone Agent is a new AI-powered calling experience that automatically answers inbound calls on a Teams Phone service line. Its capabilities include:
- Understanding caller needs in natural language
- Answering frequently asked questions
- Scheduling appointments
- Routing to a human agent if necessary
- Integration with custom voice agents built in Microsoft Copilot Studio (e.g., phone-based invoice payment)
This feature is available in preview via the Frontier program. Official Teams Phone Agent Documentation.
Voice Message Transcription: New Languages and Improved Accuracy
Voice message transcription migrates to Azure LLM Speech via the Fast Transcription API. The improvements delivered are:
- More accurate transcriptions thanks to large language models
- Faster processing
- Automatic language detection
- 14 new languages supported:
| Newly Supported Languages || |---------------------------| | Arabic, Czech, Danish | | Finnish, Hebrew, Hindi | | Hungarian, Korean, Norwegian Bokmål | | Polish, Russian, Swedish | | Thai, Turkish |
Centralized Application Management on Teams Phone Devices
IT administrators can now select and remove applications on Teams Phone devices directly from the Teams Admin Center (TAC), without physical device intervention. This centralized management simplifies large-scale deployment and allows customizing the application experience based on business roles. Consult TAC documentation.
Teams Rooms: Ambient AI and Enhanced Hybrid Experience
Facilitator Agent in Teams Rooms [Public Preview]
The Facilitator agent extends its capabilities to physical meeting rooms with a set of new skills that transform the space into an intelligent environment:
- Room status verification: detects obstacles in front of the camera, clutter, or insufficient seating before the meeting starts
- Voice activation: users can interact directly with the Teams Rooms space by voice to join a meeting or get information
- Space expert: answers questions about room configuration (name, wireless sharing, available equipment)
- External knowledge access: queries trusted web sources to answer questions in real-time without participants leaving the meeting
Availability
The Facilitator agent in Teams Rooms is currently in public preview. General Availability will be announced later.
IntelliFrame People Labels [Public Preview]
IntelliFrame introduces the display of names of participants physically present in the room, directly on the video interface. Powered by intelligent cameras and a recognition system based on prior registration, labels appear on hover over a room participant. If a participant is not registered, other meeting members can manually identify them so their contributions are correctly attributed.
This feature significantly improves hybrid fairness by giving remote participants complete visibility of in-room speakers.
Department of Defense Cloud Support for Teams Rooms on Android
The meeting and collaboration features of Teams Rooms on Android are now fully supported for Department of Defense (DoD) customers. This availability requires a Teams Rooms Pro license.
Room View Control for Webinars and Structured Meetings (Android)
When a Teams Rooms on Android joins a webinar or structured meeting as a presenter, the room's front display now defaults to participant view — preventing exposure of the presenter interface to the public. The presenter retains full control from the console, including green room management and switching to presenter view without impact on participants. Detailed documentation.
Proximity Join for Presenters in Teams Events
Proximity Join is now available for Teams Events presenters (town halls, webinars, structured meetings) from Teams Rooms on Windows or Android systems. This feature enables quick, frictionless connection to nearby room equipment. Learn more.
Room Availability in Teams Events App
The Teams Events application now displays the availability of the selected room before event confirmation, preventing last-minute booking conflicts. This feature is available to any organizer with a Teams Enterprise license. Documentation.
Security and Administration: New Protections and Governance Tools
Teams Policies Dedicated to Digital Workers and Blueprints
IT administrators can now associate a Policy Template — a reusable set of licensing, security, and compliance policies — with one or more blueprints in the Teams Admin Center. Each agent created from a blueprint automatically inherits appropriate policies without affecting existing blueprint management. This separation reduces risks associated with applying generic policies to Digital Workers.
Native Teams Agent Management in Teams Admin Center
Native Teams agents (such as the Facilitator agent) now have a dedicated management space in the Teams Admin Center, independent of global Microsoft app settings. Administrators can control availability by user, group, or organization-wide.
Security Detection Report in Teams Admin Center
The Security Detection Report centralizes detection data in a unified view for:
- Impersonation attempts
- Malicious URLs
- Potentially dangerous files (weaponizable files)
Administrators can export this report in CSV format with sender MRI identifiers and Thread IDs for in-depth investigations. This report is directly accessible in the Teams Admin Center.
1# Example: PowerShell export of Teams security report via Graph API2# Requires SecurityEvents.Read.All permissions3 4$headers = @{5 "Authorization" = "Bearer $accessToken"6 "Content-Type" = "application/json"7}8 9$uri = "https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/security/alerts?\$filter=vendorInformation/provider eq 'Microsoft Teams'"10 11$response = Invoke-RestMethod -Uri $uri -Headers $headers -Method Get12$response.value | Export-Csv -Path ".\TeamsSecurityReport.csv" -NoTypeInformation -Encoding UTF8Prerequisites
Access to the Security Detection Report requires Teams admin permissions and appropriate roles in the Microsoft 365 Defender portal. Consult the Teams administration roles documentation.
Impersonation Detection and High-Risk Alerts on iOS and Android
Teams mobile (iOS and Android) now integrates security signals capable of identifying impersonation attempts in meetings and generating contextual alerts in case of high risk. These protections were previously limited to desktop clients, creating a security asymmetry. This update closes that gap without disrupting the meeting experience.
Report Suspicious Calls (Report a Security Concern)
From Teams call history or post-call surfaces, users can now report a suspicious VoIP or PSTN call by adding context and optionally blocking the caller. Incorrect reports can be cancelled via the "not a concern" function to limit false positives. These reports directly feed Microsoft's security and investigation systems.
